The Maltese is an attractive looking dog breed that is small in size but elegant in stature. Part of the toy group of dog breeds, the Maltese is pretty much covered with hair from head to toe. Maltese dogs are gentle-mannered and affectionate during down time yet energetic and animated during play time. The Maltese dog breed is generally obedient and trainable but at times carries a stubborn streak depending on how his/her day is going. Maltese dogs like to be spoiled and enjoy being caressed by their owners. Temperament:Maltese are friendly, caring dogs. Energetic and may show occasional wild outbursts of hyper activity. Very intelligent dog and able to learn new dog tricks and commands. Dog training is relatively easy for the Maltese. This type of dog enjoys playing outdoors and isn\'t afraid to mix things up in the dirt. Great agility and speed. Fairly athetic and fearless dog.

Living Conditions:Great dog to have for indoor living or outdoor mainstay. For those living in an apartment or quarters without a yard, no need to worry. The Maltese dog does well indoors.

ExerciseMaltese dogs, like many other dog breeds, enjoy casual walks or play time at the local park. Playing catch is generally not too taxing for the Maltese. Active and sometimes hyper indoor personality. Not a good dog breed to go jogging with or participate in strenous exercise.
GroomingExtensive coat maintenance is required. Daily combing and brushing of the Maltese dog coat is very necessary. This dog breed is not a good fit if you are unable to provide attention to grooming.
